Established in 1992, SATHI-UP is a pioneering organization dedicated to empowering marginalized communities in Uttar Pradesh, India. Led by the esteemed Gandhian thinker Late Shree Paras Bhai, our organization is committed to realizing the principles of Gram Swaraj and fostering participatory, transparent, and accountable systems of local self-governance. 

Central to our ethos is the ideology of Friendship-Dialogue-Participation, emphasizing the cultivation of relationships through camaraderie, initiating meaningful dialogues, and fostering collaborative efforts that prioritize active community involvement. This approach forms the foundation for our collective and sustainable development strategies. SATHI supports constitutional values, aiming to uphold principles of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity, ensuring the rights and dignity of all individuals. Our work spans across 40 districts in Uttar Pradesh, strategically divided into five regions comprising 8-9 districts each, including Purvanchal, Tarai, Awadh, Vindhayachal, and Bundelkhand. We tailor our initiatives to address the unique socio-economic challenges prevalent in each region, ensuring targeted and effective interventions. 

We address pivotal issues such as promoting pre-primary and primary education, women’s empowerment, primary health and nutrition, enhancing livelihoods, and engaging in philanthropic initiatives. Strengthening people’s actions for a humane, equitable, and sustainable society is at the core of our mission. This aligns with our vision of fostering an inclusive and progressive society.

Founded by Late Shree Paras Bhai and 24 like-minded colleagues, SATHI officially became a registered organization in July 2004 under the Societies Registration Act 21, 1860. Driven by Gandhian principles, we work tirelessly to empower grassroots civil society organizations and amplify the voices of marginalized groups.
